Trancite to help clients fight terrorism
It’s called getting “left of boom.”The phrase means the more data collected about networks creating terror through explosives, the better terrorism can be fought. Trancite Logic Systems has been implementing its unique software, ATTAC at the federal, state and local level in an effort to win that fight.
How does ATTAC help?
It acts as a data-capture tool to collect intelligence every time a bomb goes off or an explosion is avoided and suspects are interrogated or caught. For some time, Trancite Logic Systems’ ATTAC software has been used as a way to gather bombing intelligence within the federal and military communities.
Recently, however, ATTAC was introduced to Indiana bomb squads and the state’s Innovative Intelligence Fusion Center. Trancite delivered the software and three days of training for Indiana bomb techs from all over the state.
“The first time we saw ATTAC we knew it was part of the solution we’d been looking for,” said Indianapolis Police Department Bomb Squad Commander, Ronald Humbert. “We already had BIRS (Bomb Incident Reporting System) but no way to feed it. But with ATTAC we solved the issue.”
Trancite Logic Systems developers were also able to help the state of Indiana tweak their BIRS database and help ensure flawless data sharing. Trancite developers have also been working to help the BIRS system share data with The Department of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and explosives.
“We were introduced to BIRS/Indiana through the Chief of the Explosives Training Branch (ATF), Jeff Groh,” said Trancite CEO Josh Evarts. “Mr. Groh thought that Indiana was an ideal candidate to pilot an electronic field data capture effort. Mr. Groh also worked with ATF HQ to coordinate data sharing efforts between BIRS and BATS (United States Bomb Data Center).”
It is a unique undertaking and one that Evarts hopes will go beyond Indiana.
“Trancite believes that the defeat of bombing threats in the United States will only happen through the defeat of bombing networks,” Evarts said. “This begins with easy, standardized and timely field data collection. ATTAC software provides a unique ability to gather this field data in the form of standard reports, to-scale diagrams and linked digital evidence.”
But the commitment went beyond the software. Evarts said it was important Trancite forge these partnerships with the federal, state and local bombing communities for the safety of everyone involved.
“Trancite’s vision is to be THE standard for incident/activity, field data collection,” he said. “Trancite is committed to making the operator’s job easier…while providing reliable and timely data feeds to the extended local, state and federal bomb prevention communities.”
